CHIANG MAI - MAE SAA VALLEY - CHIANG DAO (LUNCH)- DOI ANG KHANG (178 kms)
Leave Chiang Mai along route No.107 to Mae Rim and turn left to Mae Saa Valley. Visit to the orchid farms and Mae Saa Waterfall. Then return to route No.107 and continue to Chiang Dao, a small village about 68 kms north of Chiang Mai. Visit the Chiang Dao Cave & Elephant Camp, the Hilltribe Development and Welfare Centre. Suggested lunch at the Chiang Dao Hill Resort. Drive back to route No.107 and turn left along route No.1178 and route No.1249 to Doi Ang Khang.

Doi Ang Khang- THA TON - DOI MAE SALONG (LUNCH) - CHIANG RAI (168 kms)
Breakfast. Go for sightseeing around Doi Ang Khang. Drive back to route No.107 and continue to Tha Ton. Side trip to visit Wat Tha Ton or go for a boat trip on the Mae Kok River. Drive further uphill to Doi Mae Salong, a Chinese village on 1,350 m. attitude. Short stops can be made to visit the hilltribe villages enroute. Suggested lunch at the Mae Salong Villa in Doi Mae Salong. Continue to Chiang Rai via Mae Chan. Short stop at the Hilltribe Development and Welfare Centre.

DAY AT LEISURE; OR CHIANG RAI - CHIANG SAEN - GOLDEN TRIANGL - MAE SAI - CHIANG RAI (130 kms)
Breakfast. Drive along route No.110 and No.1016 to Chiang Saen, the former capital of the first Thai Kingdom, situated by the Mekong River at the border between Thailand and Laos. Visit Wat Phra That Chom Kitti, Wat Chedi Luang, and the small museum near-by. Continue along the Mekong River to The Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos convene. Suggested lunch at the Imperial Golden Triangle Resort, then drive northwards to Mae Sai, the northern-most Thai town and visit the local market. Return to Chiang Rai.

CHIANG RAI - PHAYAO - LAMPANG (240 kms)
Breakfast. Drive 98 kms southwards on route No.1 to Phayao. Visit Wat Si Khom Kham with its fine carved and guilded wood facade, and Kwan (Lake) Phayao where you can find several restaurants for your lunch. Continue on route No.1 and drive 134 kms to Lampang. Enroute short stops to visit the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre at Ban Pang La and Pha Thai Cave.

LAMPANG - LAMPOON (LUNCH) - CHIANG MAI (116 kms)
Breakfast. Tour Lampang and visit Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao, a very interesting Myanmar style temple with a small museum. Also visit Wat Chedi Sao with its many small pagodas. Continue to Ko Kah to visit Wat Phra That Lampang Luang housing the only Emerald Buddha besides the one at Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok. Drive along route No.11 to Lamphun. Visit Wat Phra That Hariphunchai and the museum near-by. Suggested lunch at the Khum Ton Kaew Restaurant, located behind the museum. Drive north to Chiang Mai along route No.106 and deliver your car to the BUDGET before 6:30 pm.
